Residential Swimming Pools

Oregon residential swimming pool safety is regulated by the  BOCA POOL BARRIER CODE

Public Swimming Pools

Signed by the U.S. President Bush on December 2007, the VGB Pool and Spa Safety Act (P&SS Act) is effective since the December 19, 2008. This rule is designed to prevent swimming pools hazards. The dangers of pools like body entrapments or eviscerations are more often invisible and deadly.

The Virginia Graeme Baker Act set U.S. CPSC measures for pool and spa security. Under the code, all drain covers must fit ASME/ANSI A112.19.8-2007 in all public pools and Spas. The water facilities which have a single main drain different than an unblockable drain must set up a second device to struggle entrapments.

The industry, the sale or retail of drain covers which are not in compliance with the safety touchstones required by the CPSC is prohibited in USA to ensure that all drain covers purchasable in the marketplace are conformable with safety stipulations.

Each public pools must establish anti-entrapment drain covers and implement other levels of protection such as SVRS or enclosure.

A mandated contractor should verify that the pool and / or spa are compliant with the federal Virginia Graeme Baker Pool & Spa Safety Act.
